Your Brain on Color

This is Your Brain on Drugs COLOR

Color is a powerful psychological tool. Color can send a positive or negative message, calm, excite, or stimulate. Commercial artists (i.e Graphic

designers, Web designers )must especially be aware of the effect of color on the brain as they deal with consumers. Companies spend a lot of money on color market research. For instance most fast food restaurants are decorated with vivid reds and oranges. Studies show that reds and oranges encourage people to eat quickly and leave. Jaguars website is predominantly black to make people feel sophisticated and prestigious. You can't escape color. Color often controls unconsciously. In Nort

h American mainstream culture, certain colors are associated with certain qualities or emotions.

Black is the color of authority and power. It is associated with intelligence (PhD graduates wear black robe; black horn rimmed glasses, etc.) It's a somber color associated with grieving. It i makes people appear thinner. It is also sophisticated, stylish and timeless. Black also implies submission (Priests). Black can be overpowering, or make the

wearer seem evil. Villains such as Dracula and the bad guy wear black.

For most of the world white is the color associated with purity (wedding dresses); cleanliness (doctors in white coats, using white gloves to touch art) It is also used to project the absence of color. White is associated with creativity (blank canvas). It is a compression of all the colors in the color spectrum.

If you want to get attention, use red. It is often where the eye looks first. Red is the most emotionally intense color and get people excited. Red is the color of energy. Red stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. Red is used in restaurant decorating schemes because it is an appetite stimulant. People wearing red clothing gets noticed. Since it i

s an extreme color, red clothing might not help people in confrontations. Red would not be a good color for a baby's room or to paint prison walls. Insurance is higher on red cars. Studies show red cars are popular targets for thieves and get more speeding tickets. It is not good to overuse red but using a spot of red in just the right place is smart.

Pink is just the opposite of red. Pink is the most calming of all colors. Dangerous criminals are housed in pink cells as studies show that pink drains the energy, calms aggr

ession, and is soothing and tranquilizing. Sports teams sometimes paint the locker rooms used by opposing teams bright pink so their opponents will lose energy.

Much of the world is

blue (skies, seas). Blue is peaceful and tranquil and seeing the color blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals in the brain. People tend to be more productive in a blue room because they are calm and focused. Studies show weightlifters are able to handle heavier weights in blue gyms. Blue has become associated with steadfastness, dependability, wisdom and loyalty (Blue uniforms). While blue is one of the most popular colors it is one of the least appetizing.

It is the easiest color on the eye. Green is a calming color that's very pleasing to the senses. Green is seen as tranquil and refreshing, calming, and tranquil. People waiting to appear on TV sit in "green rooms" to relax. Green is considered the color of peace and nature.

Yellow is cheerful and associated with good times. A person surrounded by yellow feels optimistic because the brain release more feel good chemicals around this color. It is the color associated with optimism Cheerful sunny yellow is an attention getter. Yellow will advance from surrounding colors. While it is considered an optimistic color, Yellow is mentally stimulating, and activates memory and concentration (think about yellow legal pads). In the New York City, taxi cabs are yellow to catch attention.

But be careful with yellow, Yellow is the most difficult color for the eye to take in, so it can be overpowering if overused. Tempers flare and people lose their cool more often in yellow rooms.

Brown is the color of earth and is plentiful in nature. Brown is associated with things being natural or organic. Brown is an approachable color and gives the feeling of wholesomeness.

Not Astrology but Colorology

Ancient cultures practiced chromotherapy, or using colors to heal. Colors can impact the body's energies. They can help to clear negative emotions and energy and restore balance. Chromotherapy is sometimes referred to as colourology and is still used today as a holistic or alternative treatment. Some tools used in color therapy include gemstones, candles, prisms, colored fabrics, bath treatments, and colored eye wear.

The power of color is real and it does make a different on how, when and why you are using it.
Many commercial from travel agency use blue colors to make the person feel liberated and they use that color to persuade overwhelm people to buy their package and take a vacation.
Other ways that I have seen or experience how colors persuade people is with my kids. Their room used to be this off white kind messed up color and my kids were constantly crying and fighting with each other. Know that I painted their room light yellow with decorations of light pink and light blue, my kids are happier they play better together and they are able to their homework faster. Maybe they just mature or they figure out how to get along with each other or the color of the room does have something to with their radical change.
I work as a Massage Therapist for a Chiropractor. when I first started to work there my room was color dark blue, I liked it, it was so relaxing that it was relaxing me. After working for several months and having successful experiences the chiropractor's wife decided to paint my room pink. At first I was quite upset because my clients had a hard time relaxing. I decided to put a blue light bulb and it work like a charm. The combination of the blue light and the pink wall gave my client the relaxation they needed and did not leave me the lethargic like the dark blue room did. The right combination of music, light, room color and my skill has resulted in a profitable business.

Physchology and color:
1) When driving I often notice that fast sports cars are usually painted red. Many people buy red sports cars not only because of the car but the color of the car as well. I have even talked to police officers who say, when they are on the job red cars attract their attention quicker than any other car.
2) When I attend funerals, the dominant color people wear is always black. Black is associated with grief and during funerals, black is worn to poirtray a sense of grief and sadness. Rarely when I attend funerals do I see people wear bright colors.
3)When I was a child, my mother always kept my room painted blue. Due to the calming effects blue has on people, she implemented this into my daily environment. She use my baby blue colored room in hopes of keeping me a calmer child.

I know that when I see the Golden Arches on vibrant red signs, I see a big, fat hamburger with a side of fries. I know that when I see a nice computer it's either completely black, or completely white--it's made with complementing hues of the same black or white (gray, off-white, etc.) which always makes it look stylish and daring to me. Cars are the same way--I see a neutral-looking tan car, and think it slightly drab, but put it in black and it looks so much better to me. In my office, a lot of times I feel kinda BLEH, and looking around I know why: it's gray, and light gray, and dark gray, and more gray. I feel under stimulated and bored because of the neutral grayish tones all around me.
When I look at album covers, there seems to be a color-coding there as well:female pop albums are usually pink, light red, white, or bluish with black print, (or vice versa) and the "Hard rock" bands like the simple black backgrounds with grungy looking dark colors or red, or gray, with boldly white text, a lot of the time. When you look at cell phones, they're mostly black now, with a black, sleek interface with white text, and bold colors in the icons--green for "buy things on the internet", blue for "backgrounds", etc. I even had to learn in a class for web design that colors are interpreted differently across the world. In the west Purple and Red are related to royalty and prestige--purple in China (if I remember correctly) represents grief and death--so if you make a website for Chinese users on the Royal Palaces of old Emperors, stick to the bold red, and maybe some gold or yellow attributes, but also keep in mind that red is a stimulant for anger and excitement. Color is everywhere and it never ceases to amaze me to see such deep thought put behind the making of something to be "colorfully-correct". I'm looking at a certificate paper holder (put it in, and its a nice paper case for your award certificate)--It's a dark grayish green, with holographic golden trim--it looks really special while it was probably cheap as heck to make.

1) Doctors wear white to represent that they are a scientific healer and they are certified to do the job and give any individual the answera that they are seeking.
2)Lamborghini mostly sell the red and yellow cars more than any other color, due to the fact that the cars are so expensive and when riding in it the owner wants to stand out and be recongized by the surrounding people. This gives them the feeling of importance and having wealth.
3)When attending a formal gathering the men and women often wear black, unless otherwise, so that they will look normal to others and give them the positive feedback about the way that they carry themselves. They know that people talk and they don't want to put themselves out there to be talked about and made fun of.

Not only is blue my favorite color, but from researching its effect on the brain I realized I like the color because it produces a sense of calmness and serenity.
I also recognized our associations with the color green. Green represents growth, and we associate this color with money, and also a LUCKy four-leaf clover.
Black is a popular color in fashion because it is classic and makes us feel sophisticated. On another note on the subject of fashion, red is perceived as sexy. In films, media, or advertisements, a woman is clothed in red attire to eminate a sense of energy and power.
Personally, in my bedroom I have always chosen dark, cool-color paints for the walls. It helps with sleep and calms my nerves.

3)Red/Blue- My bedroom used to be red, when i was in it i felt trapped like it was almost fire, hot and pressing, When i painted my room blue it was cool and relaxing

1. I have never been in a green room, though I have noticed how much nicer it seems outside when it is the beginning of spring and everything around you is freshly green.
2. When it is raining outside as it has did most of last month I feel tired and unmotivated. On days like today when the sun is bright yellow and the sky is a clear blue i feel energized and ready to take on anything.
3. I can't say that i get hungry when i see the color red. I can say that red automatically draws my attention. I work in a restaurant. We use paprika around the edges of the plates. The red around the outside of the food makes the plates appear more full and like there is more food than there really is.

#1. Some people believe that humans have different color 'auras.' I once had my aura read and was told that it was yellow, because I am a very happy positive person.

#2. Another example of color psychology is the art of feng shui. Feng Shui is an ancient chinese art of balancing energies to create good fortune. This can include how you arrange furniture, to what color you paint your walls. There are five elements in feng shui that are represented by colors. Here is a link explaining in detail how to make your home feng shui with color.

#3. Also, I believe Target uses the color red to attract attention to buyers. Not only is the symbol for Target, a target (which is very attention grabbing) it is bright red too.

Color to me is:
1. When going to different places, and looking at different road and advertisement signs, red tends to play a major role in each. When I come across a stop sign, it grabs my attention and lets me know I need to stop immediately. But with red ad signs, I start to feel hungry even if I was not before.
2. When going into Subway, I never want to stay because the restaurant is painted yellow. It creates a feeling of over excitement to where I want to get my food and go.
3. When i go to my room now, I never want to do anything. It is because my bedroom is blue. It tends to calm and relax me causing me to be lazy.

I don't have personal experience on brain color, but this is what I found. Pink
I remember watching ABC’s 20/20 story about a small town prison in Texas is forcing inmates to wear pink uniforms, pink shoes and sleep on pink sheets. The sheriff claims this practice reduced the rate of re-offence and fights between the inmates drastically. http://desktoppub.about.com/b/2007/08/24/punishing-with-pink.htm according to this site, studies have shown that large amount of the color pink can create physical weakness in people.
Yellow
Caution, Cheerful, Cowardice, Curiosity, Happiness, Joy, Playful, Positivity, Sunshine and Warmth
Yellow, much like red, can have conflicting messages. It can represent sunshine and happiness or caution and cowardice. Yellow is bright and highly visible which is why it can often be found on caution and other road signs. Yellow is often used in logo design to get attention, create happiness and warmth.

McDonald’s: 1962 Jim Schindler
We all know the successful McDonald’s franchise (aka The Golden Arches) and their slogan “I’m Lovin’ It”. Like Red Bull, McDonald’s uses a loosely analogous color palette. The difference is that McDonald’s is mainly yellow which fitting for this brand that focuses on children, playfulness and happiness. The red works well as an accent color and has been know to raise ones blood pressure and evoke hunger. Incidentally, this color combination has influenced many other fast food chains.
Grey
Authority, Corporate Mentality, Dullness, Humility, Moody, Practicality, Respect, Somberness and Stableness
Grey, is somewhere between black and white. From a moral standpoint, it is the area between good and evil. It is also known as neutral and cool. Grey is often used for the type within logos because it is neutral and works well with most other colors.

Swarovski Crystal: Designer Unknown
The logo for the luxury brand Swarovski, maker of lead crystal glass, is grey. The grey could be viewed to represent the lead that is a part of the product the company makes, but also represents the respect and authority that comes from the history of a company that has been around for over 100 years.

1. I always wear the color black. It gives me a sense of calmeness, for odd reason. I wear it for some of the reasons mentioned, I feel like it makes me look smaller than I really am. and what woman doesn't that.

2. The color white is something that I defintely fell like calm in. I wore white while getting baptized and the meaning behind why everyone wore that color was because of the word purity.

3. BLUE: Not only my favorite color, but it calms me down when I'm having a bad daay or something isn't panning out right. This color means so much to me, because of an ex boyfriend, who recently passed, told me that blue was my color. And until this day, anytime I put on the color I remember him and the good times we had.

Businesses use a lot of reds and oranges because it not only lures you in, but the colors also lures your hunger in as well.

I've never been in a green room, but would love to experience the peace and calmingness it could bring to me.

I don't get hungry around any specific colors, because I'm always hungry. Color has nothing to do with me or my appetite. I only get an appetite when I see or smell food.

Alright so i'm really relating to this topic, for years now my favorite color has been black. and now i realize it may just be a deeper meaning in that i secretly want to feel more intelligent. also i have recently began to wear more blue, and reading the blog makes me realize that it possibly because i am stressed and seeking to wear more calming colors, so i guess the cloths i wear depict just what and how i need to feel.
another example is commercial broadcasting, notice that the reds and oranges in marketing bring people to want to eat, just look at McDonald's. anyway,i believe that the colors do have an effect on how we act.
thirdly notice when your in a room how you feel. color always somehow creates an atmosphere in a room. red being energetic for me, green being peaceful, and yellow being hungry. i think that the colors of a room also have a large effect on how we feel, and i believe that it is these colors that have the largest effect in that we do spend much of our time within rooms. classrooms, bedrooms, living rooms, and when one is surrounded by the same color it has an effect on how we live.

1. Red definitely has an effect on cars. My sister drives a 1998 red Eclipse and her insurance is 300 dollars a month opposed to my green 2003 tahoe which is only 100 dollars a month for insurance.

2. I work in a pharmacy and we are all required to wear white smocks. I definitely think we do this because it's looked upon as a cleanliness and most other health facilities also wear white uniforms.

3. Big bird is a yellow character. He is associated with happiness and good times just like the definition in the blog said. Children look at him as funny and enjoyable.

2. While I was in Miami, Florida I was a red Ferrari for the first time. It caught my attention while I was driving. The red painting caught my attention because there wasn’t a car on the street like it. The red paint was shining bright in the south Florida sun.
3. I heard on television over the weekend that Michael Jackson was white shoes on his feet so people could always see his feet while he was dancing even people in the top of the stadiums and arenas. He also was white tape on his fingers so people would look the direction that he would point. He was getting their attention.

"Your Brain on Color"
1) My first observation is I have had to deal with 4 death of people close to me within the past 3 weeks. The color black is a somber color. People just sit back listen to others and their own hearts. None of these occasions were to remember the joys of life. They were all sad and quiet.
2) White-white to me means pure. I choose white gold. A woman wearing white to me in a wedding means the love is pure. The fact that Drs. Wears white means clean and sterile.
3) The colors blue and green mean tranquil. I think of the sky and ocean. Or I may think of a blue sky and open fields. Throw in the other colors and I think of the hustle and bustle of the city life. When I go to a spa the color of the room are always a mixture of blues and greens.

1) The first thing I can't help but comment on is the color black. In the movie "You Kill Me", Ben Kingsley's character is almost always seen in black. In the movie, he's portraying a hit-man trying to get over his alcoholism (there's more to it then that, but you get the general idea), which I find rather ironic. It appears that the director is playing with the idea that black usually shows authority by ironically clothing the character with diminished authority in black, as if the character is trying to hold onto something that the audience knows is no longer there. It's funny... in an ironic way.
2) Who can forget the Lady in the Red Dress from "The Matrix"? She was the sexiest female character, and the one easiest to notice in the Smith program Neo went through. In a dull, everyday world where people hustle and bustle on the streets, that vibrant red is very prominent and striking. Paired with a pretty woman, it automatically leads to multiple sexual references in the film.
3) I saw a beautiful Neo-French film called "The Science of Sleep" once, and there was a ton of blue in the movie. It's a very surreal film and the blue paired nicely with the notions of what is real and what isn't. The calming effect of the color itself, as well as the various hues of blue used throughout, had an extremely calming effect, which I'm sure was done on purpose since the film revolves around the main character's dreams.

Black is used on business cards, you don't often see business cards
with a lot of bright colors because its not professional.
The color red has never made me hungry, but when my boyfriend
wanted to throw out my favorite shirt of his, i told him no to. It was red and I loved it on him. It was very appealing to me and made me feel happy and energetic.
When i wear brown it makes me not want to wear any makeup and to not
add a lot of flair because i want to go with a more natural, peaceful look.

way of strategizing. My friend has a red sports car and she gets alot

usually purchase red cars. A few of the rooms in my parents house are
painted green. My mom always said this was a soothing color. I agree

Colors often have different meanings in various cultures. And even in Western societies, the meanings of various colors have changed over the years.
My personal experience in color are as follows:
1) The color of my gym is blue.Studies show weightlifters are able to handle heavier weights in blue gyms. When I enter the gym, I feel very peaceful and calm environment to concentrate on my work.Blue is a peaceful, tranquil blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals.People are more productive in blue rooms. Fashion consultants also recommend wearing blue to job interviews because it symbolizes loyalty.
2)Color combination also demonstrates the gender and personality of a person. For example,in most cases I saw that girls often uses most of their books, dresses, bags and other stuffs which are pink in color. That's why pink sometimes called as the color of girl. The reason behind pink maybe because the personality and thinking styles of girls are calm and quiet compared with boys.It is a tranquilizing color.
3)In my high school basketball team competition,we had used the red color flags with the names of the players. The red color helped to draw attention of the players. The color is bold and audacious, so it usually dilutes the colors around it. For this reason it’s used to accent and highlight objects of importance.I have noticed that when they saw the color, they became more enthusiastic and tried to play their best which proves that red color can also stimulate the energy. In most football match and other competition, the red color is used. The referee in soccer uses red color card to expel players from match. In all sports, red is the most useful color for symbolism.ed typically symbolizes passion, strength, bravery, energy, fire, sex, love, romance, excitement, speed, heat, arrogance, ambition, leadership, courage, masculinity, power, danger, gaudiness, blood, war, anger, revolution, radicalism, Communism, aggression, respect, martyrs and the Holy Spirit.

Thinking about the colors in my life I use from day to day. I drive a yellow car and people seem to notice me more than when I dirve my grey car. I feel happier and younger in my yellow car than when I am in my grey car. When in myn grey car I feel older, more mature, and since of responsiblity.
With my children I notice when we are out riding around they notice more signs or ads that are in bold colors like reds and yellows (Mcdonalds, KFC, stop signs). When I wear the colors black or grey I feel smaller in size, a sense of power,I become more demanding and outspoken. My cchildren rooms are painted light colors that seem to calm them down faster and help them get more of their school work done faster than being in the play room which is a combination of bright red, neon green, and spongebob yellow with blues incorpated througtout the room. Its a fun room to visit but not to do homework in.

Psychology of color is very powerful in today’s world. The power of color entails symbolism with many different things around us. For example, when standing on the beach looking out into the ocean you feel a sense of serenity and relaxation; it is because the color blue triggers the brain to promote calmness and peacefulness. Moreover, moneys appeals to many people because it satisfies them and makes them feel at ease. The color green is representative of money because it provides a calming sensation to people. Lastly, at higher education graduations, the graduates wear black robes and gowns because the color black symbolizes intelligence.

3.)White represents purity and that is why when people are baptized or getting married, they are usually in white. People tend to automatically respect a person that is in white. Many pictures of Jesus and angels are dressed in white clothing.

Psychology is a very intricate subject, and when color is brought in, than we see more than what meets the eye.
One example that i can see that shows the true psychological color, is mostly hospitals arive white because it represents peace, or the state of being calm and collective.
the second example of underlying color would have to be, the color on a mcdonald sign, when i see the vibrant colors of red and yellow, i think of sweet fries, and a large sweet tea :)
And my last example would have to be the color or green on a stop light, because i always taught or trained that green means go, yellow mean caution, and red means stop.

it's noticable that businesses use different colors to attract their consumers. bright colors are used to catch the eye of viewers. very vibrant and bright colors seem to be more inviting, makes you more excited about getting the product. until now, i never realized that yellow and red are used in a lot of different restaurant commercials. i guess the color red reminds you more about food and makes you build a certain wanting for the product.

sometimes on campus, the colors around you in the environment can change the moods of people. when it's really bright and pretty outside, people are more willing to walk around and spend time on campus. it makes the outside more inviting and those colors bring the "happy" out of people, it seemes like.

2. Back home I have my room painted a light blue, it helps me to calm down and be able to relax after a very long day and all I want to do is get away.
3. I think that it is also true about the orange and red together triggering the brain about food and eating fast. I think that is why fast food resturants like McDonalds uses those colors.

Color is a powerful tool in the aspects of mood, attitude, and the way people perceive us. To me color is a tool in helping me determine my mood or attitude for the day. For instance brighter colors (blue, green, red, yellow, etc...) usually put me in a better mood. Darker colors on the other hand just bring out a different attitude. I also wear colors that might have a stronger impact on people and the way they see me. I try to wear brighter colors to make me look more vibrant and interesting. I save the dark colors on days im feeling lazy and tired. And finally i try to wear neutral colors on days that i really just don't care. So yes, i agree that color is a very strong psychological aspect.

1) When going into grocery stores, you can notice that the red meats sometimes have garnish next to it. The combination of red and green make the meat more appealing to buy because the meat looks more red and fresh because of the garnish.
2)Since the color yellow can be a bit overwhelming, using highlights in your paper or using yellow paper all together helps you remember your notes better. The yellow highlights burn the word into your memory and makes studying easier because of its affects.
3)When taking Drivers Ed. in high school, my teacher told me that the reason school buses are the color yellow and black together is because those combination's are the most noticeable. At first I didn't believe this was true, but when on the road you can notice a school bus in your peripherals as easily as you do head on. They make school buses this color because of the children inside and to make sure you see the bus and are aware of it's location so you don't injure the children on board.

It's very hard for me to think of just three examples of how I've seen these colors used to convey different feelings or actions in my life. So the three examples that came to mind for me while reading through were as follows. I remember seeing a part of a hospital as a kid that was for psychological matters more so than the usual physical patients. It was mainly white and light green. Seeing that white is associated with cleanliness as I read that isn't unusual for being a hospital as you would hope it would be a clean enviroment. Also note being something to give anyone any unwanted emotion. And as far as the green seeing as that is calming and tranquil, I see why that would be used for a section that could house possibly mentally unstable patients. Another example that came to mind was the fact that almost all head execs wear black suits, especially at important functions. As I read black is a symbol for class, sophistication, intelligence, and power. All things you would want to convey as a head of any business during any meeting or presentation. The final thing that really came to mind while reading through the blog was the color brown. I remember when I used to work at Hollister, I often thought why most of the store was made of brown wood considering it was in the mall. I now see why the different approach was used for their store. Everything about their brand is for the naturalistic, surfer, beach image. As well as their store frontage being very different than everything else in malls, the fact that it being all brown, which is associated with being approachable makes a lot of sense now why people would often wander in even if they had no intetion of ever buying anything as it was different, and made them feel comfortable coming in. I know there are a ton of other examples I could think about, but these were three that came to the top of my mind while reading through the color blog.

1. I have found that when I make an important presentation or go on a job interview, I always wear black. Wearing black makes me feel more authoritative and in control. I also feel more sophisticated in black clothes.
2. Red is often used in advertising as a medium to draw attention. I have seen advertisements in magazines with no pictures and just large red words. The plain red letters on the white magazine page force me to read the words, whether I am interested in the product or not.
3. When reading the blog I thought about baby showers. When someone is having a baby, it is very easy to tell if the child will be a boy or a girl based on the colors used at the baby shower. Pink and white are feminine colors and blue and white are more masculine. If the parents have decided to be suprised by the sex of the baby, yellow or green are often used as colors which is "gender neutral."

1.The color red is a attention getter. This is why stop signs and lights are red, because red is a very noticeable color that attracts the eye.

2.The color black does make people look thinner. My sister is over weight, so I have noticed when she wears black she looks thinner and lighter closes make her look over weight.

3.The color white is associated with purity. This is true because when my cousin got baptized he had to wear white. He was told to wear white because his sins was being washed away and his soul was going to become pure again.

I agree that color in our world is very important.
1. The color black is a very strong and dominant color. I particularly love black cars. They convey power, professionalism, as well as sophistication to me.
2. My favorite color is brown and usually when I tell people that they ask why. Brown to me is calming and makes me think of nature and simplicity.
3. Purple is a special color to me also because it reminds me of royalty and victory. It is used a lot in my church which gives me faith and reasures WHO I am.

#1 Black: At formal gatherings most women will choose a black dress. It shows they are sohisticated and classy. It in a conservative color for an important event.

#2 Red: When looking for a car a while back I was set on getting a red one, but my mother, an insurance agent, informed me on the biased treatment towards red cars. Therefore no red car. :(

#3 Yellow: Alot of baby's rooms are painted a light yellow. Not only is it an either gender friendly color, it is calming. However when a room is painted a bright yellow it can be irritating and overwelming.

Color has a great impact on people's life. When it comes to use of color according to particular occasion, then i would like to say something different. Different cultures have different understanding for colors. I am from India, and in my culture have different aspect of colors on different occasions. In U.S.,wear light color dresses while in In India everybody likes to wear bright and fast colr which reveals the joy and celebration of the event, also shining colors gives the feeling of happiness. In India, people wear white color clothes in the funeral which shows the absence of sombody, people see white as color of pain, and sad. In our culture we are not allowed to wear black or dark blue in our temple as those color are are said to be bring unluck, and black is color of devil, not god. Indian food is also the great example of how color makes people feel. Indian food is said to be spicy, and very tasteful. So the Indian food has really dark bbrown or red color curry or cravy which tempt people. So, basically colors in every culture have same meaning but they are used in different ways.

The lure of color in business is real many companies use bright colors for there signs
1.) Such as the Waffle House it uses the big yellow blocks that are light up to catch your attention at night. Many of the long lasting compaines in this world use the art of color in there signs or designs.
2.) Even in emotions color is evident like when characters on television become either angry or sad. If they are angry they turn a bright red color emphasizing their anger and if a character is down or sad they and their surroundings turn a blue color.
3.) Even the many series' or shows we watch on tv make their titles very colorful to lure their audiences in so that the make a good profit. Color plays a huge role in everyday life. Everywhere you look color is around you.

Three examples of Color
1.) The color Black.
-- many friends including myself choose to wear black shirts/ dresses because it makes us look slimmer. Priests were black because they are the authority in churches and same with judges and the courtroom.

2.) The Color White.
-- resembles purity. Such as when babies get baptized. Communion and of course the brides wedding gown.

3.) The Color Red.
-- makes me very hungry and is also a color that is attractive to the eyes.

1.Black is a neutral, elegant and very powerful color. Therefore, when people have to present something they often decide to wear black in order to look more authoritative. In general the color black radiates elegancy as well as mourning and is mostly represented at specific events or in companies.
2.Many colors are associated with a certain meaning and effect. So people feel different when seeing colors. For example the color green symbolizes hope and makes people feel good, yellow symbolizes calmness and jealousy, so it can arouse different effects in people as well as the color red does because it symbolizes anger and causes fear but does also symbolize love and thus cause heat. The colors white and black are associated as being neutral but nevertheless powerful and blue and purple colors symbolize royalty as well as victory.
3.I agree with the statement that color is very powerful and able to send positive and negative messages. People are surrounded by color every time, no matter if it is day or night and no matter if they perceive it or not. Color is meaningful and effective everywhere in the world, although it may differ culturally.

Colors always bring life and reality to our lives in all different ways.
my Favorite color is white which gives me a sense of purity and cleanliness. i always like people who wear white because it kind of describes the simplicity in one.and it is really surprising how different colors represent different cultures all over the world. in different part of the world different colors defines different things. such as white in eartern countris represent mourning sorrowful feeling. and being from east i know in my society if someone dies thats when we wear white. while in contrast in western countries brides wear white on thier weddings. and it also in a way shows the sense of fall or winter season. while red color in east show very happy feeling. in east bright colors always represent a joyous feel. most of the eastern brides choose red color to wear on thier weeding. because it also shows the romantic, passion and desire. and in western culture this color is also used as holiday theme combined with green.valentines day also define in a red and pink color. i also feel when people work around warm colors or cold color have different output toward thier work. such as when i was working in a CPA office and all the rooms in his office were dull yellow which use to make me feel so sleepy and boring. but when i go to place which is bright white color i just feel i can work more effectively.

1) I’ve heard that mental institutions paint their walls blue as a calming effect on the patients.
2) I also noticed that when I wear my green jacket, I tend to be more relaxed and want to go outside more. This is in contrast to when I wear black jackets. When I do, I feel more depressed and closed off.
3) Another thing I’ve noticed is that when I look at rooms that are painted a dark color, it looks smaller than rooms of the same size painted lighter colors.

Reading this blog really made me think about and realize how much colors make a difference in emotions and perception.
For example I have been in a visitors locker room that was painted pink and I think it really did make a difference in throwing off the teams aggressive attitude and amped up energy level.
Also I had always heard that a red car gets more attention but it became very real and believable to me when I got pulled over in a red 350z (I drive a silver one), when I was barely speeding and driving in a less "spirited" way than I normally do. I rarely ever get pulled over in my car.
I was thinking about how blue while relaxing, suppresses appetite and I tried to think of any fast food restaurant that has blue in its logo or has its restaurants prominently decorated in blue. I think this assignment has opened my eyes a little to the power that color has and it just might help me avoid a big mistake in my marketing/advertising job down the road.

The power of color is something that we all deal with on a daily basis. The first experience that I have with the power of color was when I was trying to decide on what new car to buy. When I was looking for a new car, I always sais that I would not buy a red car because they are always associated with cops pulling red cars over more. I then actually ended up with a red car, but this has not the been the case with me getting pulled over. My second experience is with the color yellow. I love wearing yellow because it makes me feel better and happier. Also, yellow is associated with a bright sunny day, which always cheer people up when a gloomy rainy day makes people feel tired and down. Like most people, black is associated with death or grief. Most all people wear black to funerals. It can also portray class, which is why you see people usually wearing it to big parties and formal events.

Various colors have different affects on the human psyche.
1) Red cars are a target for policemen. They stick out and appear to be going faster than they really are. Some insurance companies even charge more for red vehicles.
2) Nurses wear bright colors and patterns on their scrubs to create a comfortable situation for patients coming into the doctor’s office. It makes the patients feel better and more at ease about their visit.
3) Blue and pink are known as colors for the genders of babies. They both are calming colors and are supposed to one, signify the gender of the baby, and two, to create a calm environment and to keep the energy level low and smooth.
I have never been in a “green room” at a television set, but I can imagine that the green screen provides a very calming and peaceful vibe. I can’t say that I have ever gotten hungry around the colors red or yellow, but both colors are very bright and attractive.

2) Yellow is a color that grabs your attention and tends to make you feel excited. Some cartoon characters like Big Bird and Tweety Bird are both yellow and are associated with happiness. In the blog it says yellow can help portray good times and that is why kids are drawn to such characters.
3)The color white is associated with the word pure. That is why brides wear the color white and also hospitals keep their walls white to help the patients gain a sense of its cleanliness.

1. When we got our house remodeled and redesigned we hired a designer to come in to do colors. He asked me what i wanted my room to do for me. and i told him to be relaxing and calm she he said to go with Winchester Blue, and it has definitely worked. My room is a calm and relaxing environment.

2. In my mom's office her point of that color was to stay alert, and awake and so the designer told us to either go with a red, or a yellow because both of those help with attention. Yellow actually raises blood pressure.

3. One random thing i've noticed is when it comes time to like Thanksgiving, and "autumn" seasons they use a lot of orange and browns. Today while i was at the mall i was thinking and realized that those two colors no matter when they are out and about remind me of this time of the year.
